The Big Pour

The Big Pour

AMERICAN INDIAN VETERANS MEMORIAL CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD - PHASE 5 PRODUCTION OF “THE GIFT”

We invite you to view a new 2 1/2 minute video that describes this next dramatic phase of the "Big Pour" during the production process of the monumental twice life-size statue, THE GIFT.

THE GIFT, by A. Thomas Schomberg, will be the centerpiece of The American Indian Alaskan Native Veterans Memorial, to be installed at a future date on the hallowed grounds of the Riverside National Cemetery in CA.

What you will see in this short video is actually stage 5. The condensed sequences up to this point are as follows:

Stage 1 - Modeling in clay and producing in bronze the 1/2 life-size sculpture.

Stage 2 - Scanning the 1/2 life-size sculpture and milling from the scan the armature in foam for the twice life-size scale.

Stage 3 - Modeling and Carving. Carving the monumental foam armature sections where needed, while adding clay and spackle to define the details.

Stage 4 - Mold Making, Wax Pouring, Spruing Construction and Creation of the Ceramic Shell.

Stage 5 - The Pouring of the Bronze and the Breaking Out. Here you will witness the bronze casting process and the emersion of the solidified bronze head.

Please pass this video onto those you feel would like to be updated as well. More to come.

Thank you once again to all the donors, supporters and to all the AIANVM volunteers who have brought us to this point.
